By now you've probably heard about Republican Senate Candidate Todd Akin's comments regarding his views of the improbability of women becoming pregnant as a result of "legitimate rape". This statement is just so wrong on so many levels, and sadly this isn't an isolated belief. Nor is this the first time that Akin has said something crazy, so the Missouri Republican Primary should have known who they were selecting.
I believe that NBC's Dr. Nancy Snyderman & President Obama had the appropriate responses to this incredible show of ignorance and misogyny. Skip to 5:26 for Dr. Snyderman's comments.
President Obama's Response:
The views expressed were offensive. Rape is rape, and the idea that we should be parsing and qualifying … what different types of rape we’re talking about doesn’t make sense to the American people and certainly doesn’t make sense to me. What these comments underscore is: We shouldn’t have a bunch of politicians — the majority of them who are men — making [health] decisions on behalf of women
As a side note, this incident makes me worry that this man allegedly hangs out with Doctors who don't know that Women aren't ducks.
